Zen Riichi
Privacy
Last updated 5 September 2026
Zen Riichi is a browser game. It is designed to need as little about you as possible, and this page describes exactly what it does hold.
What is collected
- A display name. Whatever you type on the entry screen. It is shown to the other players at your table. It does not have to be your real name and we suggest it is not.
- A session token. A random value that lets you rejoin your seat after a reload or a dropped connection. It identifies a seat, not a person.
- Game results. Scores and hand outcomes for matches you play.
- Standard server logs. Requests to the server, including IP address, kept for operational and security purposes.
What is not collected
- No account, email address, phone number or password.
- No advertising identifiers, and no third-party analytics or tracking.
- No payment details. The game is free and sells nothing.
- Nothing is sold or shared with third parties for their own purposes.
Stored on your device
Your display name, sound and volume settings, tutorial progress and session token are kept in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device. Clearing your browser data removes them, which signs you out of any seat you were holding.
Where it runs
The game runs on servers operated by the developer on Google Cloud infrastructure in the United States. Connections are encrypted in transit with TLS.
Retention
Match state is held only while a game is in progress. Results are kept so scores can be shown. Server logs are rotated on a short operational cycle.
Children
Zen Riichi is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. Mahjong here is a skill game played for points only: there is no wagering, no purchase of any kind, and nothing of monetary value can be won or lost.
Your choices
Because there is no account, there is very little to request. You can clear everything held about you on your device at any time through your browser settings. To ask about server-side game records, or to request their deletion, contact us at the address below and include the display name and rough time you played.
Changes
If this page changes materially, the date above changes with it.
